The Problem with American & British English Curriculums
Through years of teaching ESL in schools across China, Taiwan, and Thailand, I have identified a significant issue hindering effective learning among students. Many are instructed using American or British curriculums that are not tailored for ESL learners.
These programs are primarily effective for native speakers, leaving non-native students feeling overwhelmed, confused, and disengaged. When children struggle to comprehend their English lessons, they quickly lose interest, leading to ineffective learning. To address this issue, I developed a course specifically designed for ESL learners to establish a strong foundation in English.
This course encompasses 12 essential topics, each featuring engaging lesson content, practice worksheets with detailed explanations, and assessments to reinforce understanding. The video lessons, each under 10 minutes, are designed to maintain student engagement. Once a solid foundation is established, future learning becomes enjoyable, straightforward, and productive!
Topics covered include:
- Introduction: About Yourself
- Phonics of the Alphabet
- Numbers and Digits
- Subject Pronouns
- Common Verbs
- Four Types of Nouns
- Basic Adjectives
- Question Words
- Prepositions of Place
- Verb To Be
- Simple Tense Grammar
